Cookie Policy

We do not use cookies
Neither this website nor the Recorde tracking script sets cookies. No first-party cookies, no third-party cookies, and no other kind of HTTP cookie. Websites using Recorde do not need a cookie consent banner for their analytics.
What the script uses instead
The tracking script uses browser-native storage that does not track visitors across sites:
- sessionStorage holds a rolling session identifier used to group pageviews into one visit. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity and is cleared when the browser tab closes.
- localStorage holds only your opt-out preference, if you choose to opt out, so that the choice persists.
The dashboard
The Recorde dashboard, which a site owner runs on their own server and signs in to, uses a session cookie to keep them signed in. That cookie is set only on the dashboard's own domain for the person who signs in, never on the websites being measured, and never for their visitors.
